European Society for Research on the Education of Adults

The European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA) is the major European research organisation devoted to the study of adult and lifelong learning, as well as the education of adults. It brings together colleagues from diverse disciplinary backgrounds and countries.

The ESREA Life History and Biographical Research Network was established in the early 1990s and brings together diverse scholars from across Europe with a range of disciplinary backgrounds and diverse theoretical approaches in the use of biographical and/or life history methods in the study of adult and lifelong learning. The Network enables people to share their research and to learn from each other, whether they are experienced researchers or post-graduate students about to begin their studies. The Network has led to a number of collaborative research projects, some of which have been financed by the European Union.

University of Thessaly - Department of Preschool Education

The Department of Preschool Education (initially called Department of Nursery School Education) was founded in 1984 as one of the first departments to be established at the University of Thessaly. It is housed in building number 3 of the Papastratos Complex. It is part of the School of Humanities. Currently, there are 20 faculty members and six staff serving at the department in various teaching, research and supportive activities. Appox. 100 students are admitted annually.

Volos Municipal Centre for Historical Research and Documentation

The Volos Municipal Centre for Historical Research and Documentation (DIKI) was founded in 1991 with the purpose of collecting, managing, utilizing and presenting any and all documentation that is relevant to the town and its surrounding area. DIKI has a veruy rich archive which comprises of the municipality's archive, 46 private archives and approximately 6000 photographs, plans and maps. It's library comprises of 5500 volumes, of mostly historical content. DIKI also sets up exhibitions and has produced substantial publications.
